...in about 1977 or so, I think, I saw this new kit from a company from Italy - the Hetzer was amazing!! Detail that rivaled Tamiya, lots of parts, and much cheaper. Italeri was the DML of the late 70s. Too bad it didn't keep up!

Other notables:
Seeing built kits and dioramas in the LHS (same one - Hobby House in Ottawa).
Historex figures - conversions showing what could be done.
The fall of the Berlin Wall - that's really helped us get access to huge quantities of previously unknown material, and the Eastern European manufacturers have revolutionized the parts and accessories market.
The internet - killing the LHS has certain benefits...
