Hi Paul:
One of our local model stores has made it a policy to drop Tamiya prices to match US prices on the kits. This has resulted in a good 10% drop. The problem, according to him, is the Canadian importer for Tamiya, who is enjoying the increased value of the Canadian dollar without passing the savings on to the retailer - as a result, he is now ordering most of his Tamiya stock from US distributors and passing the savings on to the consumers. It appears that the bottleneck in terms of price changes is at the distributor level, for whatever reasons.
