Paul,

Hmmmm? Let's see?

1930s? - I'm not too surehow far back it goes but I would say one initial start would be Britians lead soldiers. Well painted and accurate details especially for the time.

1950s - First Mongram kits such as their Weasel, M3 haltrack and Jeep. Done in plastic instead of having to carve them out of a block of wood.

1960s - Start of magazines such as Scale Modeler, Military Modelling and Airfix magazine. Before the internet it was the only source to see what other modelers were doing and techniques.

1970s - Shep Paine's 'how to' inserts in Monogram kits and high quality, buildable kits in 1/35th by Tamiya.

1980s - Verlinden with his books and accessories. Tamiya's late Tiger I to set standard of quality. Gunze Sangyo 'High Tech' kits that set standard for multi-media kits

1990s - Resin quality improves. Eduard with the prolifiration of photo-etch. Internet web sites.

2000 to present - track-link.net (even though it started in 1996) & Paul O., Roy C., Glenn B., James W., Sual G., Mig, Steve Z.

So what did I miss?

Mike Bedard
