After a couple of years buying solely online I have returned to buying from my local hobby shop due to the steady increase in online prices and inflated shipping "estimates".
We were all told that buying from online retailers would be cheaper because they don't have the High Street rent and rates of brick and mortar stores.
However, [particularly with new kits], I am increasingly finding they are charging the full MRRP, [e.g-£29.99 for a Smart Kit]. Add to that a flat rate fee of £3.50 for P&P, [this applies whether you are buying a hefty kit or a jar of paint!], and you are out of pocket.
But when I buy from my local hobby shop I can get on the spot advice, am allowed a good look in the box, and can decide then and there if I need replacement tracks, or whatever, without having to make another order with another P&P charge.
Just my TEN cents worth,-(Minimum Order}
