Not to sound condesending, I am curious as to why people spend so much on AM stuff for kits that apparently don't really need it. Pauls list for example:

DML Pz.3 J - $45.00 (obvious)
Aber 50mm L/60 barrel (35L-65) - $12.00 (again obvious, although the plastic barrel on this kit looks great)
Aber Fender kit (35218) - $23.00 (if you are planning some major fender damage than I can understand)
Aber PE Upgrade kit (35217) - $20.00 (do you really need it for this kit as it comes with P.E. already, how much will you actually use)
ModelKasten tracks (SK-23) - $43.00 (I do not understand replacing well molded and detailed plastic tracks with plastic tracks, Friuls would be one thing as I know some people, myself included like the extra weight they provide, but not MK, are we talking a different pattern of tracks? than I can understand, almost)
ModelKasten tracks (SK-24) - $38.00 (you need spares, o.k. but at the price of almost another kit, makes no sence since you bought MK tracks to replace the kit tracks, you have a whole mess of kit tracks laying around that could be used as spares)
Achtung Panzer No.2 - $33.00 (obvious)
Mori 20t Jack - $10.00 (is the kit one crap? It looks great to me)

I used to spend quite a bit on AM stuff but that was on older kits that really needed it or for conversions. Most of todays kits really do not need all this stuff. I think we got into the habit of beleiving that to build a really good kit we need to buy all kinds of AM stuff for it. Now I am down to usually buying a barrel (not needed alot of times as alot of kits now days provide metal barrels), screens (again not needed alot of times) and Friul tracks (like I mentioned, I love the extra weight they give my model). Just my opinions here. What ever floats your boats is what is important as it is a hobby and you all are allowed to spend as much as you want on it. Does help the AM guys stay in business (which is a good thing).
