Hi DicK,
you raise a very good point about the hobby in general, and a lot of modelers I know would completely agree with your comments. Not only the rewards of a model finished with a extra bit of "personalization" to it, but something for others to view and learn something from. And to see something a little different than the old Out of the Box build.
There is certainly a place for the OOTB models, but most enthusiasts of the hobby strive to advance a bit by adding the little modifications after researching a project, share their ideas, ask questions etc. Websites like this promote that type of activity, which is great to see.
