No. I would prefer the model to kit to be as accurate as possible. I have limited time for my hobby and would rather spend it building and painting than flipping through books and measuring things. I find it very frustrating to sit down to build something to find out the company made a big error. Case in point is the Academy M3A1. I sit down to build it to find out the hull is wrong for the m3A1. One can correct the back end or buy a replacement hull. So instead of measuring out the rear end (And I have yet to find an adequate source to do so) I am now waiting on the hull to come from a after market vender. In the three past weeks, I could have completed this model.

The model company should do their homework and get the kit right as much as possible instead of having us to the work.

It is difficult to be an expert on one vehicle. Let alone on the many others out there to build.

Some "corrections" don't really matter anyhow and are too nit picky. I will not do anything that really won't be seen once the model goes on the shelf with =all the others. I've overcome AMS long ago and have drifted back to OoTB builds or just minor tweaking. I have a pile of kits, a real job, a family, wargames to play, reserve duty etc. I don't have the time or resources to buy every source and pour through them to figure out if a vehicle has the right road wheels.

There are many ways to personalize models too in finishes, weathering, stowage, dioramas etc.
