Hi Paul,

Many years ago I red a piece on new products (in Military Modelling it was, I think) about a company that made small containers with dust mites.

The idea was that you placed your model in a covered bowl, opened up the container and the dust mites would do their thing. As dust mites do their doodoo not at the place where they eat, (they stated), there was no risc that your model would be covered in mites crap afterwards! it also seems that after the dust was consumed, the mites should volunteery retreat into their container again (and hybrenate?).

I have never seen this product mentioned again and long forgot the brand name too, but the idea seemed so outlandish but clever to me, that it never left my mind.

So anyone, do you remember this product? Was it a (aprils fool) hoax? Or was/is it indeed available and did/does it work as advertised?

BTW, clean my models with a very soft wide brush and the airbrush (without paint of course) at a low setting.

Cheers,
Alex
