This is a great question....

Is anyone besides me a little wary of contacting the military or the manufacturers for technical info on vehicles like this?

In the early 1990's I toured a reserve unit and took dozens of shots and measurements of HUMVEES and HEMTT's. The Sgt in charge asked what I was doing and then gave me some Tech manuals and even more unrestricted access.

Since 9-11 I wouldn't dream of doing that -- although my only interest in these things is for modeling.

Anybody have any bad experiences? Or am I being paranoid?
