Response 1,

I must agree with Brian. Seems to me that there are a ton of old cheap kits out there for the Looks Like a Duck crowd. I have commented many times to a friend that if you weren't all that concerned about the quality or accuracy of your kits, you could buy a ton of 70's era Tamiya and Italeri kits at IPMS shows for a song. Build for years for next to nothing.

Response 2,

Having made quite a bit of money on a fix for that huge 2mm inaccuracy in the Academy Lee suspension, I tend to take a dimensional error as a percentage of the whole. 2mm's off on an overall hull length when it's perhaps a 3-4 % error is acceptable. But the 2mm error on the M3 bogie parts were on a part that it's overall height is around 13 mm's. That's almost 20% it leaps out at you. I have been the same way about the fender widths on Dragon's EZ8 fenders width. They are about a scale 2 inches too wide. On a part that's only supposed to be about 7 1/2 inches that's an error of 25%. I know that's the way my tests were graded when I was in school. a 95% was an A a 75% was an F. And F's don't look like Ducks!

Cheers,
Rob Ervin
