Ian...I absolutely agree, assuming that the album includes background information which not all of them do.

I've been working with an archive lately on cataloging and captioning their KV collection of individual photos and sometimes it's very difficult to identify the date and location of a photo or set of photos. Sometimes it's down to geography, architectural style of the buildings in the background or even whether there are leaves on the trees.

On the up-side, some photos will have an inscription on the back that gives some clues, though they can often be difficult to decipher. It took me quite a leap of faith to figure out that "Road to Warranesh" actually meant "Road to Voronezh" :-)
