This thread has been interesting in its exposure of all the different styles and feelings about the amount of time taken in the building process. It is obvious that everyone has a little different spin on the time it takes and their scheduling. Some go as if it is war time and production is the key with some of us just slogging along, I’m a slogger. I have only been at this for about a year and a half or so and certainly do not break any speed records building. I have no reason I cant spend full time building models but to me it would become work if I dedicated that much time so I kind of pace myself depending on hunting, fishing, travel, hugging my wife, etc.

I am not patient by nature so my first models were just put together rather quickly one at a time, then I thought I could speed things up and tried two at a time which was a disaster. Lately I build one at a time and have learned to slow down some (pay more attention to details) and I like my finished models more with each one I build. With waiting for delivery of kits, accessories, tracks, conversions and all the miscellaneous stuff that is needed to build models that are interesting to me I can see tight schedules seem controlled by others. I find with waiting for glue and paint to dry, filling holes and fitting ill fitting parts there is no way I could build in the time you are talking about but I still have a lot of enjoyment in the models I do get built in two to three weeks each.
