I was looking through old magazines last night and found an old Tamiya ad from a 1976 issue of Military Modeler (the old US magazine). I remembered that this was _the_ single most important thing, the only at the time I recall now, that got me really interested in 1/35th scale model tanks, Tamiya in particular. I used to study that ad for hours.

I was in grade five I think, and living in a small BC town called Princeton and there were no Tamiya kit sellers let alone a model shop. I had to wait months for my parents to take me to Penticton to visit the model shop there. I think my first Tamiya kit was the Panzer III M/N. Before that I was building those 1/48th scale Monogram aircraft.

Times sure have changed!

How did everyone else start in this hobby? Did these old Tamiya ads help?
