It was sometime around 1976 that I built my first model. Back in those days it was mainly planes and ships, my father was stationed in Germany and we didn't have such a big selection. I remember building a German Bomber plane and put BIG hand drawn Swastikas on it, that caused a lot of discussions, Swastikas are illegal in Germany. My first 1/35 scale model was in 1980, that was when father was transferred from Germany back to the states, Fort Campbell KY. It was a Testors/Italeri yellow box, 2.5 ton GMC truck. That was hand painted with Testors colors. Those were days, when it was just great fun to built and let your fantasy go, now we all count rivets and color schemes.
