I'm not sure how I got started in building models. I know my dad played a role, and I clearly remember building airplane and car models for as far back as I can remember. Building military models, however; that I remember exactly how I got started. I was on Christmas break from school (11th grade, I believe), and my mother had gotten me George Forty's book, "World War II Tanks." I was fascinated by everything in the book! I was reading this book and watching Return of the Jedi on TV, when I wondered to myself, "I wonder if there are model kits of tanks?" I had never bothered to look, as up until that point all I cared about were airplane kits. So I got in my parents Oldsmobile and drove to Ace Hobbies, the shop I had been going to my whole childhood. I was looking for a Tiger tank, but found an old Nichimo Panther G instead. Had it built and painted in about 2 days. It's been all downhill ever since.
