I remember my dad getting me some 1/144 scale airplane kits when I was about 5-6 years old and the first one I built was a Stuka IIRC. I remember him building the visible B-17 right around the same time, which was the last model airplane I think I've ever seen him build, outside of some houses for his first love, Lionel trains.

My first "armored" kit was a hasegawa 1/72 scale kublewagon that I got from a woolworths or something. It was the first kit that I remember painting something on, which was the tires. I remember building the Monogram 1/32 scale kits a couple years later but that was it till 1988 or so. I remember getting a finescale modeller that had some French modeller that built an old Tamiya Panther D kit in it and with a hobby shop opening up in the local mall and the discovery of other ones locally, my modelling took off like a bad habit...

I took a break from modelling late in High school due to me being too busy socially then going into the Army. I picked the hobby back up in 1995 or so and I've been building ever since then, but I've branched back out in 1/48 aircraft the past 2 years or so after being burnt out on armor...
