I have directions from 20 years ago. I save them in case I buy another of the same kit, as I tend to make notes on mine of things that didn't quite make sense in the directions, or which steps can be done first instead, etc.
Also, as Mike R. said, you might get another of the kit and it might be missing instructions. Or, someone else may need them, and then you can pass on some good karma.
And, the best is reading the "stories" that come on some, as I love reading them translated into English from Chinese, Japanese, Russian, etc. Sometimes there is some very inventive spelling/usage, and I find it amusing in a childish sort of way.
