Great topic! I like to think of the older kits as fine art that tests the modellers ability, skill and patience to bring it (or them) 'up to date'. Now I do admit I buy current Tamiya and other kits, but there is a great deal of gratification in taking an older kit (my Priest or Puma for example) and giving it a good dose of lovin' and making it look more like a kit that has today's molding and manufacturing techniques.
