Subject:  Re: Rubber band tracks.... their future?List thread.

My usual answer, I'm afraid: it depends. I'm happy with vinyl tracks where they don't need to sag, and since most of my armour is stuff like Leopards, I'm happy enough with what I've got. Some of them had such badly moulded tracks that I had to replace them with separate links, but that's OK. Where the tracks do need to sag, I'll still be happy with vinyl so long as it's flexible enough to allow me to do the necessary. Which pretty much eliminates anything by Italeri...

On the other hand, I don't mind separate links, even when each one has three or four parts to assemble. I've nearly finished a set for my M109. They were fiddly, but that's sort of payback for the ease of assembly of the rest of the kit. I may consider them for others if the kit tracks turn out to be intractable.

Of course, on many kits there's no alternative. But I like Trumpeter's idea of offering both, so you can take your pick. For the price, the track options on the KV series are really rather wonderful.
