For reviews of some magazines with military modelling content see the "Press review" in my web page AFV Planet
http://www.afvplanet.com/prensa/index.html
(Sorry, only in Spanish)
Some magazines I know (and write for some of them)
- AFV Modeller from UK, one of my favourites (in English)
- Xtreme Modelling from Spain, my other favourite (editions in English and Spanish). Also publishes high quality modelling books.
- Steel Master and Steel Master Thematique, from France. One of the all times European classics and excellent publications (in French)
- Military In Scale from UK, great magazine, improving every issue. It is a pity that half of the magazine is devoted to planes ;^) (in English).
- Model Military International from UK, a "only AFV" spin off of Tamiya Model Magazine (AFV, planes, civilian vehicles...). I don't like too much the photo quality here (in English)
- Panzer Aces form Spain. The international magazine (editions in Spanish, French and English) from Action Press, the people behind Euromodelismo, one of the most respected and veteran modelling publishers in Europe.
- Steel Art from Italy is the "only AFV" magazine from the Auriga Publishing company. The flagship of the company is Model Time, a general modelling magazine. Both are excellent (in Italian).
- Master Modelers from Japan. The most open modelling magazine in Japan. Features AFV, planes and the oaccional ship. Combines the Japanese modelling character with contributions with European modellers. Very Interesting (in Japanese).
- Armour Modelling from Japan. One of the top Japanese Magazines, only AFV (in Japanese).
- Model from France uses to be a high quality, glossy paper magazine (like AFV Modeller or Xtreme Modelling), but I think it is no longer produced.
And of course, many other magazines, such as Modelbouw Magazine (Netherlands and Belgium), Modelar (Czech Republic), Military Miniatures in Review (USA), Fine Scale Modeller (USA), Model World (China), Panzer Graph! (Japan), Military Modelling Manual (Japan)... Many countries have their own magazine(s) in their own language (Greece, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Australia...). |
