That's an interesting observation..."I believe the prices are destroying the future opportunities these manufacturers could have selling kits to those who are kids right now."

These days many more kids play video games than build models, but at some of the prices can you blame them? When I was a kid and got my start building models, I could buy 1 to 3 models for the money I made from one yard cutting grass. Today I suspect you'd be lucky to be able to buy one crappy kit for the same amount of work.

I certainly understand gum isn't 5 or 10 cents a pack anymore but I wonder what the long range marketing plans are for these model companies? In order to have a continuos customer base from decade to decade, you have to bring in new modelers and I'm not sure that's happening. Of course I know that the Far East is a huge market and maybe its much stronger out there and they don't need look much farther for business.

I know many of you follow the market trends and are closer to some of the manufactures than I...I'd be glad to hear other perspectives.
