Paul is correct - we our a endangered species = well at least should be on some protected species list somewhere! we need to bring a new generation in - but what is it they want ?

Its only a matter of time before model companies somehow do what Lego did a few years back (midstorms)- combine with a computer.

Imagine new types of tank kits - computer programs that essentially require you to 'build' a kit from many parts ( how accurate could those parts be without moulding imperfections or limitations - maybe even original CAD drawings! ) you could build the whole kit as the real thing was done - every rivot, every bolt etc.

now that may sound tedious to some - but then imagine the "pallet" of available paints in cyber world - or even preselect colours from vehicles loaded into the program. imaging having to select how much 'hue' was needed from a colour before airbrushing it on. imaging having to drybrush using a new "tamiya drybrush wifi bluetooth 3d modelling light pen". think outside the box - the kids of today are probably beyond this expectation already.

Now the best bit - take you simulated model and insert into a combat video clip.... or or insert into some kind of online gaming ... or stage it with various back drops...Print them out and so on. animation will soon be second nature to elementary school students.

If this doesnt excite you , then you need to wonder why computer focused younger generations are not coming to the hobby.

I dont think plastic kits would stop, but I think they will change. How long before you get 3d scanner at home ? and are able to scan a 3d image into a home pc like we do a piece of paper now? thats when the next generation will come along - when the hobby becomes techno.

imagine buying "mig" colour pallet program, or loading a new airbrush program? kids eat this stuff up for breakfast.

now quite what Paul wanted i guess but he can always delet my rant if i got too far off track !
