I agree with Alex. I grew up playing with GI Joes and watching war movies.
My father used to take me to US Civil War battlefields and played the old
Bunker Hill War Board games with me. All of this made me have a high
interest in history and that led me to research WWII which in turn made me
fall in love with the tank.
I think that a great start to help get kids a bit more interested in
modelling would be to make history classes more fun. To be interested in
the tank, you should most likely be interested in history, but history
classes in American schools is nothing more than regurgitating dry facts.
Even in college at the University of Pittsburgh, I took a class on American
history from colonial times to 1870s - 1880s (i.e. through reconstruction).
The professor condensed the Revolutionary War into a 10 minute talk and the
Civil War into one lecture. How on earth can these two EXTREMELY import,
future of this country shaping events be just breezed over in favor of dry
political and economic crap.
