I have a big family and often have to find time to model when on the run.
Lately I've been modeling in motel rooms, vacations, and on the side lines
of little league baseball games.

So for some kits like the Tamiya Leopard 2AS I am satisfied with the
relatively high price if I can build it without having my entire workshop at
hand to fix problems you might find on the lower priced kits.

Overall this hobby is a great price performer compaired to tournament
fishing or golf.

But I find that a lot of our peers will buy a kit and over the year or so
before they build it collect enough aftermarket stuff to quadruple the price
of the kit. Lost are the folks that brag about how they improvised a kit
with simple household matrieals. Take Zimmerit, how many people try to do
it with putty vs the number that take the easy, but expensive, way out and
buy the aftermarket Zimmerit sheets.

I find that kit indy track links are often fine....and the $30+ for MK
tracks are not justified. Steve Zaloga once told me that the best P/E sets
came on the small frets. Aftermarket barrels are relatively low cost..but
how many modelers will take the effort to make a go of the kit barrel first?

The DML 250 kits are excellent and don't need that much P/E to make them
show killers.
