This is a matter of opinion but being a network admin and serious home user I prefer DELL. They good prices and the best support for long a long time now.
As far as your gaming needs. Do not go cheap, you will be sorely diappointed. I would, at a minimum, go with a 20 Gig hard drive, 128 MB RAM, Video card with at least 64 MB on board memory, and a 17" monitor.
As I said it is a matter of opinion. And Budget.
