I agree with Peter...

My personal machines are home built with the parts that I like... but for
someone not too computer savvy... Dell is a great company that makes solid
machines at good prices... stay far away from Comp USA, Best Buys Circuit
City... the guys selling you stuff no nothing, and when something goes wrong
these places steer you towards the manufacturer (even though when your
buying it, they try their hardest to sell you insurance plans where they say
they'll fix it no questions ask)...

As far as oompf... Just go a couple levels lower than the highest mhz (that
way you don't pay high bucks for the latest cpu, and your not gonna notice
the difference...) definately go for a Pentium 4 as opposed to a Celeron...
I'd go for 256 mg of Ram... Same for the Video card as Peter mentions... I
also would buy a model where the video card it not 'integrated' that way you
can upgrade in the future... 20 gig hard drive is fine for starting.. and
definately go for the 17" monitor...

Buy a PC world magazine, you usually get good prices on Dell's there...
better than on the web site sometimes...

good luck!

P.S. combat Missions a great game.. if you need an opponent, I'm here for
you!

> This is a matter of opinion but being a network admin and serious home
user I prefer DELL. They good prices and the best support for long a long
time now.
> As far as your gaming needs. Do not go cheap, you will be sorely
diappointed. I would, at a minimum, go with a 20 Gig hard drive, 128 MB RAM,
Video card with at least 64 MB on board memory, and a 17" monitor.
