Graeme,

I'd kindly invite you to compare my reviews of various CD figures on TL with
those written by the webmaster on ML. I think that helps demonstrate the
difference between a serious review and an informercial.

I don't believe only reviewing "the best" products serves anyone other than the
manufacturers. By inference any product not reviewed could be misconstrued as
inferior.

As a member of TL's review committee, I can say that the topic of putting box
art online to accompany the reviews has been discussed. Some of us feel we can
automatically do this under the accepted doctrine of "fair use," and some feel
we should contact the manufacturers to get their permission. We haven't come to
a consensus on this so it fell by the wayside while we focused on other issues
getting TL back online. We should address this again. I agree, a picture is
worth a thousand words --- or at least several dozen. Not only does it help
illustrate specific problems with a kit or figure when a photo of the actual
product is used (vs. an illustration), the reviewer can point out where the
product photo can be misleading (as with some VP figure uniforms incorrectly
painted, or how CD manipulated the figures in their BoB GI's so it was less
evident that the poses are essentially the same).

I agree with you there's not much difference between ML's figure reviews and
those in MMIR as far as content goes. But MMIR does not call them reviews,
whereas ML does.
