Only advice I can add to that is build something simple, straight out of the
box. The obsession with after-markey and superdetailing really takes the fun
out of it for me, but is necessary to keep up to standard...or so i thought.
I couldn't even walk past the model bench a few years ago - my last project
had been a real disappointment and I was seriously questioning my abilities.
Sat down and read Tony Greenland's Panzer Modelling Masterclass once again
and built the old Italeri Hetzer straight from the box, step-by-step a la
Greenland in a couple of days. Enjoyed it immensely and damned if it didn't
win a bronze at the next show. (And believe me, I don't win many medals!)
Don't be afraid to try other things as well - another burn-out period, I
built an Imex Harley Sporster I picked up for next to nothing at a club
meet. Finally, amaze yourself with something you didn't think you could do.
Picked up the new Tamiya Me262 and figured I was just going to ruin a $60
(Cdn.) kit. Limited the PE to an Eduard Zoom set and had it together in less
than 2 weeks, airfield base, kettenkrad and all. It's on display at the
local hobby shop and everyone keeps asking if the local Godfather of
aircraft modelling built it!
Like the man said, if it ain't fun, it ain't a hobby - time to try something
different.
