a) Kit barrel is unusable or requires a lot of clean-up work, or
b) Aftermarket barrel is cheap
Otherwise, I'll stick with the kit part. By my survey of Sherman barrels at
least, many of the aftermarket pieces are fantasy that aren't any
improvement. In fact, one of the kit barrels is better than most of the
metal ones.
