Hi,
just thought id put my view across as a young modeller (19). I recently and have done before gone through patches where i question what i am doing in modelling. The way i got through it was to moderate what i did, i found id make alot of kits, get frustrated etc then not make any atall for perhaps 2/3months before coming back.
My concentration of building models was especially around the age of 15 before i could legally drink/ go to clubs/pubs and bars and since then i have done all these and more and modelling is on the back burner.
When i first started modelling armour i thought my mates would take the mick because nobody else seemed to do it, i actually found they were impressed when they saw my models and told me they could not do that and it looked really difficult. Findin tracklink inspires me because i see all the models that have been super detailed and air brush painted (too expensive for me),but it also kind of points out how far away all the expertise feels for me.
I guess whats important is i feel happy with the models i make, if i get tired of modelling i go do something else such as car modification (very expensive) or shooting or just go out down town with mates.
If you feel you find modelling a strain etc go do something else and put it from your mind and try other things, you may come back fresh and ready to carry on.
On the subject of knowing more about the history/military/politics i definitely agree modelling fostered this growth within me. so much so i have given up after a year of university studying a construction related course to attend a different university studying for a BA War studies, i hope to go into the military/security field upon graduation. thats just one way modelling affected my life.
just my random 2 pence (uk version!) worth,
