Not David here, but the kit is really just a M4A3(105) HVSS with a pipe
stuck on the rotor shield. There were around 2000 of these built between
9/44 and 6/45.
The best bet, I think for a WW II FT would be a M4A1 or M4A3(75)W with the
barrel adjusted to look like the split tube flame gun cover and the fill
fitting added to the gunner's periscope housing. Ed Gilbert, as I recall,
has about the best knowledge of which FTs saw service and in what
quantities. There are photos of some ETO FTs in one of Zaloga's Concord
books. These were the ones that replaced the hull MG with a flame gun. I
think there were about 100 going to the ETO starting in the Fall of '44.
