It was my understanding that Tamiya sold off their old moulds to Academy - you will note that in many of the Academy kits that appear to be coppies, the detail is significantly more coarse (even than the old tamiya moulds), indicating the usage of old, minimally retooled moulds. I was not aware of any thefts. Can anyone confirm the facts here either way? I'd be very interested to find out the truth behind this.
