Thanks for the tips gents.
As far as mold making RTV's, I like Silastic J a lot. Its easy to use, has good properties for home casting. For the resin, I've been using Alumilite but I've also used MicroMark ColorCast with good results. The problem with both of these however is that the pot life is just not long enough. If I could find a resin with a pot life of around 15 minutes or so it would make life easier. This would give me time to mix and de-air with enough time left to work the resin into the mold.
I think I'll try the syringe idea, filling the cavity from the bottom up might well do the trick.
I'll let y'all know how it works out but it probably won't be until after Christmas at the earliest.
