Mark,
The MicroMark 600 resin has a pot life of about 7 or 8 minutes, much
longer than the ColorCast or 300 series (which I think the colorcast is). I
got away fom the 3 minute alumalite fairly quickly. About all I could do
with that was pour into an open mold and hope. I am able to work the resin
into the details of panels fairly well too when using 600.

The syringe allows you to do some two part molds with bottom fill sprues.
I molded 17 pounder muzzle brakes and pioneer tools using that technique as
well.

> As far as mold making RTV's, I like Silastic J a lot. Its easy to use, has
good properties for home casting. For the resin, I've been using Alumilite
but I've also used MicroMark ColorCast with good results. The problem with
both of these however is that the pot life is just not long enough. If I
could find a resin with a pot life of around 15 minutes or so it would make
life easier. This would give me time to mix and de-air with enough time left
to work the resin into the mold.

might well do the trick.
