Just to add to Dave's comments.
Resin kits/figures are more expensive than plastic kits because fewer are made from each mold. Tamiya is using its molds from the 70s still, whereas molds for resin castings don't last nearly as long.
Also, resin dust is VERY BAD for you. There's an article on the site about it. I find resin can be easy or hard to work with! Each manufacturer appears to use a different mix. For example, Verlinden use a resin that stinks of gasoline (to me), whereas Ultracast have a non-smelly resin. Wolf have a nice resin to work with, Warriors' is more brittle.

The solution I have for resin is to carve or cut it, and if I have to sand it, I wet sand. I hold the part under water, and sand it in the water. That way the dust stays in the water. I then take care to rinse everything (including my hands) before doing anything else.
