They are CIP panels. On M1's, you have three of the Zig Zag ones. Its thin metal, painted on one side, unpainted on the other. They are about 3' by 3' (maybe a little smaller) and are designed to show up very well in thermals for positive ID during an engagement. The ones on either side of the main gun are also about 3x3, and are thin metal held on with velcro. The things you see on personell are Glint Tape. On the uniforms we are getting, there is a velco patch sewed on either sleeve 2 inches below the lowest patch, as well on the back of the kevlar and the very top. A reflective material, (Glint Tape) is then attached in each location. At any rate, thats how we are doing it.
YMMV, Alan Eaton |
