If you're collecting as an investment then that's a whole diffreent hobby than collecting for display or other pleasures. I admit to enjoying 54mm toy soldiers, but I couldn't bear to leave them in the boxes. These are Conte, Wm Britains and King & Country stuff that follows my modeling theme of US forces in WW2. They are out on display with the few models I've actually completed. One one hand, too the 54mm stuff has actually gotten me to enjoy modelling MORE. I have assembled a couple old Monogram 1/32nd kits to put with the "toys". I added details and corrected many of their shortcomings, but they sure aren't contest models, they were just built for the fun of it. I'm actually happier finishing one of these than working on the super detailed stuff that may be critiqued by other AMPS members. So collecting CAN improve enjoyment of the hobby in a funny way.
