Subject:  Re: Dragon Panzer III and IV kits, what is what?!?! help!List thread.

Hi Arthur,

Not an expert but at least I'll try to start answering your question. I'm sure true experts will step in an correct me and fill in the blanks...

About the Panzer IIIs the Ausf J and M/N are a bit more simplified than say the Ausf E.

All StuG IIIs were new Dragon stuff except the Ausf G which was based on the Gunze kit.

About the Panzer IV, the earliest kits (Panzer IVJ, Brummbar, Zwischenlosung, Hummel, Nashorn) are not so good, especially chassis roadwheels and tools.

Newer ones like Panzer IV F1, F2, G, Jagdpanzer IV, Panzer IV L70(V) and I think StuG IV early and late have retooled chassis, roadwheels and common parts.

What's confusing is that Shanghai Dragon included the retooled parts in their reissues of the Panzer IV J and Brummbar, then Dragon re-issued the Brummbar with some of the Shanghai parts, but not all, talk about confusing :-(

I believe the Kugelblitz was first issued with old tool chassis then redone with a new tool one.

Also Dragon have done all new kits of the Nashorn and an all new Hummel is on the way...

All this from memory, sorry about possible innacuracies or omissions...

Cheers,
Christophe

I know some of these are all Dragon, and some I believe are based on the old Gunze? tools, and some have better parts than others, and you get a mix of all sorts of sprues in some of the kits... has anyone done or know about a comprehensive listing of them? I know some are much better than others. And I'm wondering about all the self propelled guns/tank destroyers/anything on the III/IV chasis.
