| Subject: | GMWS Always Had/ Has Problems With... | |

..non-U.S. customers. Before, it used to be the non-U.S. customers who had the majority of complaints about shipping, being overcharged, or being charged for an item that wasn't included.
Now it seems that all the GMWS moving has affected U.S. customers as well. I haven't ordered from GMWS since last year and for the last two orders, I cancelled them because the "Still Searching for Product" took over a month.
****
So what's the point of all this complaining about GMWS? I think it's because we "Old-Timers" on TL remember the days when Loic ran GMWS all by himself and boy, he was pretty good! I also remembered his "Return Policy" of returning any item within 30-days for a full refund or store credit if we were unsatisfied with the product. Ah, those where the GOOD OLD DAYS!
Now according to the GMWS newsletters, GMWS's service first suffered because they didn't have enough help so they hired unskilled summer help, mainly student workers, and that botched the shipping and billing. Back then, worker morale was low and turnover was HIGH! Once they solved that problem, it was the computer system being outdated or hacked into. The "Return Policy" was revised because people were probably abusing it (not surprising). Then after that it was the retail store hogging up all the time, and now it's the mass-moving affecting business. As I said, one good thing about GMWS is that they're pretty frank about their problems. Yet one has to notice that although business is very good for GMWS, they still have a string of problems, one after another, some problems so bad that they're felt from the top-down. As the other online hobby stores similar to GMWS prove, whenever there is a problem, the customer gets affected.
IMO, GMWS has to prove to its customers that it's becoming a "problem-free environment" and so far that hasn't happened...one problem after another. I fear that GMWS has developed a "Hope Diamond" cursed taboo that prevents customers from even touching GMWS for fear that the "curse" will affect them and their order. Who knows when the next GMWS problem will arise and do customers want their orders to be around when it does? I think the answer is pretty obvious AND this has been the main reason why modelers I spoke with don't care to order from GMWS anymore---too many problems! Hindsight from other people is sometimes advantageous...that's why classrooms have group discussions and peer reviews of other peoples' work to offer feedback on papers that are someone elses'. That's why complaining is sometimes useful---when it makes a difference, that is.
I just hope GMWS doesn't repeat the same mistakes they have experienced and will resolve these problems and finally get down to business as the other online hobby stores are doing. The worst part is that many of the "Grand Opening Customers" of GMWS are leaving to shop elsewhere because we remembered the "Good Golden Old Days" of GMWS and quite frankly, somehow GMWS never really lived up to them recently. And yet we "old-time online shoppers" still want those "Good Old Days" when shopping for kits.
Here's hoping,
