To turn the tables...

1) Would you wait around all evening or change your plans to allow the buyer
to pick up an item? Its saving the buyer money, but would potentially cost
or inconvenience you. What if they are a no show?
2) Would you or your spouse mind a total stranger dropping by your
residence?
3) Will you have change on hand if the buyer comes with two $20 bills when
the item costs $26?
4) What would you do if the buyer refuses the item when he sees it? Or wants
to haggle over the price?

I will permit pick ups if a buyer asks. Why anyone would want to go through
the hassle of dealing with Toronto traffic just to save $5 is a mystery to
me. In my case, providing:

1) Buyer must pick up the item when its convenient for me and with in a
week. I'm not waiting around for several hours or arranging my calendar like
I would for the phone or cable guy to save someone else pocket change. No
rain dates for a no show.
2) I'm in an apartment building, so they can buzz me and then I can meet
them outside. They are some odd people out there!
3) Exact change only. I'm not a bank teller/cashier.
4) Not sure what I'd do. Deal with it and then most likely forbid local pick
ups in the future.

I had my first 'local' bidder took four bleeding weeks to pick up the item
and I was not amused. I seriously considered that would be my first and last
act of generousity regarding pick ups.

Should I pay for the shipping? Or negotiate to have it picked up?
