Despite the terms of the auction re: shipping, there is certainly no harm in
asking. If they say OK, you've saved a few bucks. If not, you're not
paying any more than you figured anyway, eh? This is along the same lines
as asking a seller to combine postage on multiple auctions, or asking for
books to be sent media rate rather than parcel post. If you are polite,
pleasant, and respect their answer, no sane person would care.
I actually did this, but the seller was 220 miles away! (That's right - two
hundred twenty.) They seemed pleased to actually meet another Ebayer.
