Damaged road wheels are a pretty goofy thing to pay for.
And, the VAST majority of photos I've seen show no damage to the rubber
rims on WW2 armor. When I got back into armor modelling, it appeared that
nicks and dings in rubber road wheels were a required weathering element.
Add that to the rust myth in my opinion.

Second place goes to aftermarket barrels that are the wrong dimensions.
