I myself do wonder why I feel inclined to purchase yet more add-ons to my already excellently engineered kits. The turned metal barrels are virtualy indistinguishable from the original kit plastic parts.I have a sheet of 400 grit sandpaper glued to a piece of malomine for a very flat surface. I then cut off the locating pins on a two piece plastic barrel and sand the halves in a figure 8 pattern face down on the sandpaer. Joining the barrel halves with extra thin cement leave an almost perfect join, and with an additional sweep of very fine sandpaper I'd stack my plastic barrel against an aluminum barrel anyday and hey, I just saved myself $20.
