Hi,
I agree...I remember the "raised outline" thingy when I built my Pzkpfw IV F1/F2/G years ago, but some of the kit tools are flat on the bottom, which make them looked like 1/72 scale molded-on tools after glued to the hull.
Actually those locator pin holes will be covered by the tie-down for the tools anyway (assuming one really wrap the tie-down around the tool like the real thing), so I don't think it will bother modellers a lot.
Just MHO.
