Subject:  German WWII "Firebase" idea???List thread.

 Date:  Feb 19, 2004

Hello,

I am trying to investigate the possibility of a dio I day-dreamed:

Did the Germans employ on the Eastern Front the same idea the US Army did during the Vietnam war with heavily defended firebases and overlapping fields of artillery fire?

If so, what would they include in such a set-up (other than lots of big guns)? Were there any documented instances?

Cheers!
