Hi Paul,
First of all, being a developer myself, I appreciate the time and effort you've put in on the web based forums.
However, I prefer using a newsreader. After 22-23 years of reading/using newsgroups, I still think its the best way.
My main pet peeve with web based forums is having to do a search or start clicking sequentially through the page #s hunting for a recent thread of interest. When a couple of page downs is all it takes with a newsreader. Oh, and forums that are unable to collapse replies tree to just the initial post's subject.
Since you prefer a newsreader as well, I guess that means NNTP access won't be too far off.
