| Subject: | The instructions of the new tasca Luchs kit | |
| Date: | Apr 29, 2004 |
| From: | Robert Lu | |
Just received the kit and browsed through the 2 instruction sheets in the kit. One is from their first Luchs kit and a new one for the new kit. Before steping into assembling the kit, your'd better to read through both carefully and decide what should be placed to the kit and what should not. Some of the diagrams are really confusing even in Japanese.
Here are two examples:
Section 12 - Assembling the muffler
Jack is not used on the kit. Please use it as an accessary in a diorama. Fire extinguisher is mentioned in previous section.
Section 13 - Placing the muffler
Fire extinguisher is mentioned in previous section. It is not used in this section.
Here are some information that I think people might want to know:
1. The second sheet contains the information districtly for the new kit(35-006). It would be better to check the new instruction sheet before going on the construction by following the steps in the first sheet.
2. There are 2 sections of rubber and 4 sections of steel "toasty". Only 4 sections in total used in the kit. Check Marking and Painting section for the right combinations for the vehicle you want to build.
3. As mentioned in the examples above, jack is said not to use in the kit. Can't confirm it with the references I have in hand.
4. There are a new sprue of jerry can included in the kit. Part 3 or 8 are for fuel can, 4 or 7 are for water can. Part 2 or 6 are for another side of the jerry can.
5. Turret lifting hooks are said not to use with smoke dischargers or 20mm ammo boxes. I did find 2 photos showing hooks, alghough not 100% clear, were attached to the smoke discharger base (see the attached picture). Not sure about the 20mm ammo cases and the hooks. Depending on the ways how the ammo cases were attached to the turret, lifting hook may remain. For instance, vehicle 17 had the ammo case vertically attached, leaving some space between the rear turret plat and the case.
6. All painting examples are showing dark yellow(XF60) base and dark green (XF61) camouflage although vehicle 41 was painted with white wash in the references I have.
So far I found that I would like to share with you.
