Hi Roy and others
I tend to agree that Tamiya seems to take the older kits out of production and let demand rise and then re-release the same old (Poor) Kits at greatly inflated prices! They have done it over and over and lets face it those moulds paid for themselves long ago! I also Agree than when Tamiya releases a new Tooled Kit they are Great and almost assemble them selves! I just think maybe Tamiya is not making the Money they used to so they try to pay for the new Tool with inflated prices on the old stuff? In my opinion they would do much better Profit wise if they made the older (and yes poorer) kits bargain kits for parts. For example the M3A2 Halftrack that is re-released every so often (I think last Price was $26.00??)would sell many more at $15.00 (Still a Profit here guys as the moulds are paid for) I know I would buy 3 to 4 times as many of these older kits (For Conversions and parts) if they would just quite jacking up the price? Maybe I am out of line but hey if the object is to sell kits a lower price will do much to help that goal. Now that said I do not mind paying the "High" prices for the new tooled ones as they are well worth it. Just seems to me if they would lower the prices on the old stuff they would sell more to offset the cost of the new ones more?
Oh Well enough of my ramblings
Cheers
Jeff
