Hello,

Yep. I wish there are more of such articles out there when I got back into
modelling. Whenever I flip open a modelling magazine, I am often confronted
with articles such as "Adding a full resin interior to DML's Jagdtiger"
etc... .

Yes, I like Jagdtigers, and yep, I would love to build a DML one. And even
better, I would really want to add an interior to my Jagdtiger when I build
one. But the problem is, for a (then) neophyte modeller what I really needed
were basic construction articles outlining each step and noting the tricky
parts. (Back then) I didn't need information about aluminium barrels, P.E.
sets, nor about resin "enhancements" (brings "Silicone" to mind). What I
needed were articles about kit assembly skills, how to paint certain paint
schemes, how to setup an airbrush, how to deal with link-to-link assembly
tracks. Basic stuff newbies were afriad to ask online.

I literally had to buy several magazines and glean one or two paragraphs
from one or two articles about specific skills. There were no articles
geared towards beginners. Money got wasted, and sometimes precious kits (I
AM a college student, money is hard to come by) as I "learned by attrition".

Online sites are similar. Often written by experienced modellers, promoting
advanced modelling skills. The News Groups are nice, and I learnt alot from
there. But still I wish things were a lot more straight forward. Coupled
with that incident of trying to introduce my friend into AFV modelling, I
felt that maybe we need step-by-step tutorials arranged by skill levels
(beginners to advanced), each teaching a new (or a set of new) skill(s).
Track-Link is by far the most user friendly site out there.

Well, enough of my spiel. I guess that espresso I had just now is working
wonders in my head. ;^)

Sincerely,
-=Yc.W=-
