Hi Paul,
I'm sure the in-bag reviews standards of TL are of the highest grade and perhaps the in-box reviews are accurate, to some degree but I don't think they should be taken as gospel. My comments reflect on my personal experience with some kits I've built and or seen other people's negative experiences, such as this recent complaint of the top half of the hull not fitting the bottom half of the hull on the highly anticipated and highly lauded 251 from AFV Club, (although David Nickels did not have that problem because of the way he approached the issue.) I'm just saying that IN-box reviews are way different than a real building review - for example, I had that experience with a Lion Roar set that I reviewed "in the bag", gave it great marks!, only to be disappointed in the actual results.(see Panzer I/A Blog here at TL).
From that experience, (and others) I will only buy Aber PE from now on - It is the best as far as my experience shows- maybe I'm wrong but again this is my experience and its the only one I can truely speak on.I my humble opinion In-bag reviews should be taken for what they are and should be only a 1st step in evaluating and researching a kit prior to laying out hard earned cash.
Leo - The new DML Panzer I/B does have some new construction wrinkles however I have had only one minor gap show while constructing the multi pieced superstructure and engine cover. Careful dry fitting is required and to put this kit and Alan's monster in the same breath is not fair. This seems to be a very nice kit- but of course not perfect.(and I haven't finished building it yet- maybe my opinion will change?) You can follow the build over at planetArmor.
